I am teaching French Immersion in the beautiful city of Nanaimo in British Columbia. I am passionate about teaching and learning, and was always drawn toward technology. I remember having spent many hours on my VIC-20 trying to code games in Basic. Today, I still get hooked by challenges and puzzles to solve (like trying to add custom code to personalize my website) even if I often fail. Learning and finding answers is what motivates me.
In my teaching, supporting second (or third!) language acquisition is at the core of my intention, even if it should not feel that way for my students. Immersion is much more than teaching every subject in French. It is about creating a learning environment where students see themselves as competent and proud bilinguals across the curriculum and beyond.
Does technology have a place in reaching that goal? Definitely! Technology expands our possibilities. So let's share!
